Dr. Dale Vanessa Holiday, B.A., Wesleyan University (Psychology and Sociology); M.CP., University of Rhode Island (Community Planning);  Ph.D., University of Washington (Environmental  Planning / Minor Studies in Eco-tourism).

Dale is a published author and instructorDale Holiday with extensive experience in environmental studies, land use planning and organizational behavior. She is a published author on the topics of community viability, sustainability and multicultural communication. She has designed and conducted workshops on the topics of effective communication, teambuilding and achieving healthy life / work balance.

Her essay about personal travel in  remote areas of the western U.S. was included in the book Go Girl! The Black Women’s Book of Travel and Adventure. This acclaimed publication is the first anthology of travel experiences of African-American women, and includes  contributions from Maya Angelou and Alice Walker, among others. She wrote and narrated a radio essay broadcast by KPLU public radio on the topic of diversity issues and the environment,  and has authored nature appreciation columns for regional newspapers.

Her writing has also appeared in Cats Magazine, Planning, Women's Sports and Fitness and The Outdoor Diversity Resource Guide published by the National Summit on Outdoor Recreation's Working Group on Diversity. She has made public presentations on her research at conferences, universities and community groups.

Dr. Holiday is a long time outdoors enthusiast and birder. She and her husband Max Mania are passionate animal lovers, with 5 cats.
